The care brief governs the building; the frame comes next

Health centres, practices, consultation spaces and other low-rise care buildings can be engineered in LSF where the brief, the loads, the equipment and the regulatory framework allow. We work on the frame or on a broader scope defined in the contract; the clinical design remains guided by the actual uses of the project.

STARTING FROM THE USES

Organise the zones before coordinating the frame

Reception and public areas

Access, waiting, wayfinding and accessibility are defined according to the expected number of visitors.

Consultation and routine care

Repetitive rooms can share grids and interfaces, subject to the requirements specific to each use.

Staff and service areas

Work rooms, storage, internal circulation and maintenance must be integrated into the overall operation.

Plant rooms and special areas

Equipment, local loads, ventilation, humidity and specific building services are identified before the supports and service holes are frozen.

Flows, separations and levels of requirement are defined by the design team and by the regulations applicable to the project. The diagram illustrates a coordination method, not a standard health centre layout.

What upstream preparation can coordinate better

Repetitive rooms

Recurring grids and panels can be prepared once the brief has been settled.

Service holes and penetrations

The routes required by the building services are coordinated before manufacturing where they affect the frame.

Equipment supports

Known loads and fixings are passed to the study so that reinforcements or suitable systems can be provided.

Phasing

Areas or buildings can be organised in batches where the operation of the site and the contract allow.

Frame, envelope and building services must be studied together

  • hygiene, cleanability and choice of surfaces
  • ventilation and air quality according to the room
  • humidity and wet areas
  • acoustics and confidentiality
  • fire, compartmentation and evacuation
  • accessibility
  • maintenance and replacement of equipment
  • local loads and suspended equipment

These performances belong to the complete building and to its regulatory justification. They are not guaranteed by the steel frame alone.

Choose a supply scope suited to the project

Structure Kit

Sections prepared for organised local assembly.

Panel Kit

Panels and trusses pre-assembled to reduce structural assembly on site.

Custom building project

A broader scope around the frame may be included depending on the brief, the responsibilities and the contract.

The current solutions are based on a frame assembled from sections, panels and trusses. They do not constitute a catalogue of finished volumetric medical modules.

PUBLISHED DESIGNS

Two care building designs

These designs are there to discuss an arrangement, a grid and technical interfaces. They constitute neither a standard facility nor a clinical solution ready to be reproduced.

These models are adaptable concept designs for clients who do not yet have plans of their own.

PREPARING THE STUDY

The data needed for a first assessment

Send the functional brief, the available drawings, the floor areas, the number of storeys, the types of room, the flows to be organised, the known equipment and loads, the building services constraints, the safety requirements, the location and the scope you are looking for.

Tell us about the brief and the technical interfaces to be coordinated.
