SOLUTION 2 · CUSTOM BUILDING PROJECT

Design the building. Manufacture its frame. Coordinate its delivery.

Algeria Light Steel can work well beyond the supply of the structural frame. Starting from existing drawings, a design to be transformed or a brief that still needs to be formalised, Algeria Light Steel connects architecture, engineering, manufacturing and construction to take the project through to the agreed level of building completion.

The LGSF frame continues to be engineered and manufactured by Algeria Light Steel. Around this industrial foundation, the scope can include the building envelope, roof, openings, building services, fit-out and finishes, up to a fully completed, functional and habitable building in Algeria.

The starting point is not the product. It is the building to be delivered.

A custom project does not begin by choosing a section, a panel or a wall build-up. It begins with the building’s use, location, floor areas, organisation, architectural expression and the result expected at handover.

A villa on a sloping site, an extension connected to an existing building, a development of repeated housing units or a training centre do not raise the same questions. Spans, openings, circulation, equipment, occupancy intensity and comfort requirements all change the way the building must be designed.

I ALREADY HAVE DRAWINGS

The existing drawings form the basis of the project. They are reviewed to assess their compatibility with the LSF system, identify missing information and coordinate the interfaces between architecture, frame, foundations, envelope and services. The objective is not to distort the architectural project, but to make it calculable, manufacturable and buildable.

I AM LOOKING FOR A DESIGN TO ADAPT

A design or source of inspiration can provide a starting point. Floor areas, layout, openings, levels, façades and equipment are then adapted to the actual site and brief. Every change is reflected in the architectural and structural design: the model is never treated as a standard product that can simply be enlarged or reduced.

I HAVE A REQUIREMENT, BUT NO DRAWINGS YET

The project can also begin with a site, a required capacity, an intended use or an initial idea. Architects we engage can help formalise the brief, develop a proposal and organise the dialogue between architecture, engineering and commercial constraints.

In all three cases, the initial assessment seeks to understand the same set of factors: what the building must enable, the site conditions, programme and budget constraints, and the level of involvement expected from Algeria Light Steel.

Designing the building around its load-bearing frame

The LGSF frame carries the loads and provides the building’s stability. On its own, it is not a finished wall, a complete floor or a high-performing roof. A custom project must therefore organise all the functions that turn the frame into a usable building.

There is no single universal build-up suitable for every project. A villa in a hot, dry climate, an air-conditioned clinic in a humid area or a building near the coast may require different responses.

WALLS AND FAÇADES

An external wall must simultaneously carry or transfer certain loads, manage rain, control air and vapour movement, limit heat transfer, contribute to acoustic and fire performance, support the façade and enable the interior use.

The choice therefore concerns more than the visible finish. It covers the complete construction sequence: outer skin, optional ventilated cavity, continuous insulation, water and air control layer, sheathing, insulated frame, optional service void and internal lining.

FLOORS

The floor is selected according to loads, spans, acceptable deflection, vibration, acoustic performance, fire resistance, services and the final floor finish.

Depending on the project, the solution may use light steel joists with a dry floor build-up, a pre-assembled cassette, an acoustically isolated system or a steel–concrete composite slab where greater mass and stiffness are required.

ROOFS

The roof structure cannot be separated from water management, wind, insulation, summer comfort, rain noise and maintenance.

A ventilated pitched roof, low-pitch metal roof or flat roof does not respond in the same way. Pitch, drainage, upstands, edges, technical equipment and continuity of the layers must be coordinated with the trusses or joists supporting them.

OPENINGS AND SERVICES

Windows and doors, ducts, drainage, cables, technical plant and suspended equipment introduce penetrations and loads. Their positions must be known early enough to provide the necessary service holes, reinforcements or service voids.

This coordination keeps the structural components in their intended condition without multiplying improvised cuts or perforations after manufacture.

Tell us about the project as it stands today

Detailed drawings, a preliminary design, a site, a brief, architectural references or an initial idea: not everything needs to have been resolved already.

Send us the information available. Algeria Light Steel can identify what is missing, assess the suitability of the LSF system, propose the appropriate level of involvement and organise the next decisions.
